They knew you were special…
That’s why they wanted to become part of your world to begin with…
Because they saw your worth, they saw your light, and they saw what you were capable of.
But they knew deep down inside that they weren’t good enough for you.
Because they never took the time to work on the parts of themselves that they needed to work on.
They saw you as an easy solution to their problem.
But they were afraid...
Afraid that as soon as you saw the truth about who they were, you'd leave...
So they decided to destroy your confidence, your self-esteem, and your self-worth.
They decided to pull you down instead.
They decided to hold you back.
And they made a conscious decision to tear down everything that was your life so that you had nothing left to hold onto.
And it was a conscious decision, because time has shown that they knew exactly what they were doing…
Because they always knew that you had wings.
They knew you’d flourish.
But they were more interested in clipping your wings…
They were more interested in destabilising your environment in order to destabilise you.
They were more interested in projecting their own inner darkness onto you instead of allowing you to shine.
Because in their mind that way they could control you enough to keep you.
And they knew that if they could break you, they’d be able to play the role of your saviour because you had no one and nothing left to turn to.
It was a sick, twisted, and manipulative game for them.
All because they wouldn't work on themselves...
When you’re with someone who only ever wants to dulls your light, most of what happens next isn’t about you or because of you…
It's not your fault, and you didn't cause it.
It’s about them and how they are…
It’s about their insecurities because they know they bring very little to the table.
But the part that they wouldn’t allow themselves to see, is that you actually loved them for who they already were…
You wanted to grow with them and help them to grow because you know that’s what love is.
Your love and commitment towards them was the genuine kind, so you gave your all to them.
You gave everything you had.
You ended up becoming part of their world.
A world that gave you nothing in return except for heartache and despair.
And in doing so you eventually lost yourself…
All because they were more interested in destroying your worth in order to make them feel more worthy…
All because they were more interested in clipping your wings and poisoning your environment instead of allowing you to fly.
In time you’ll come to understand that you were never the problem in this equation…
In time you’ll flourish again because you’re free from their chains that held you back, and you’re free from their curse that broke you.
You can’t cage a bird that’s born to fly…
Sometimes we just need to find the courage to free ourselves so that we can heal, mend our wings, and learn to fly again…
